MOVE FAST OR FOLLOW THE PROCESS?
The same job can feel completely different depending on where you work.
Startups tend to move fast. Fewer approvals, fewer layers, and sometimes the person you need is sitting three desks away.
Large companies can feel like the opposite. Forms. Meetings. Approvals. Another meeting to discuss the previous meeting.
But I’ve learned something from working across different environments: neither is automatically better. They simply teach you different ways of working.
FIND THE ENVIRONMENT THAT FITS YOU
Your first job doesn’t need to be your forever job.
Startups can give you freedom, experimentation and exposure to the entire problem-solving process.
Large organisations can teach you structure, governance and how businesses operate at scale.
My advice? Experiment with your career. If an opportunity looks interesting, try it. Six months in a different environment can teach you more about what you want than endlessly trying to choose the “perfect” company.
YOUR CAREER IS AN EXPERIMENT
